Jurgen Klopp blamed for Sadio Mane’s Liverpool exit

Sadio Mane left Liverpool for Bayern Munich this summer and Salif Diao has accused Jurgen Klopp of not showing the Senegal forward love while at Anfield.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been around for a while. The German managed to build something special at Anfield and has helped the Reds win a Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and the Carling Cup. The former Borussia Dortmund manager earned himself a place in their history.

The 2022/23 season is not going to script with Liverpool struggling to win games. They are currently outside the top four, and Klopp has to get his side firing on all cylinders again. The signs are not good, and the form is poor.

The famous attacking trident of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah is the work of Jurgen Klopp. Sadio Mane left Anfield this summer to join Bayern Munich, and many believe his departure is part of the reason Liverpool is not clicking. The Reds signed Darwin Nunez to replace the Senegalese striker.

Why Sadio Mane left Liverpool

Sadio Mane, against the run of play, left Liverpool this summer for Bayern Munich. The Senegalese brought his six-year sojourn at Liverpool to an end, and the decision raised several eyebrows. Sadio Mane led Senegal to win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) this year, beating Egypt in the final and led the Teranga Lions to get another one over former teammate Mo Salah, as they qualified for the World Cup.

The departure of Senegal forward has been laid at the feet of Jurgen Klopp. Pundits have concluded that the poor form of Liverpool this term is due to the departure of Sadio Mane. Former Reds midfielder Salif Diao has claimed that Klopp is why Mane left.

Salif Diao, a former Senegal international who also played at the World Cup for the West African nation, claims that despite being at Anfield for a couple of years, Mane thought he did not have the love needed at Anfield. Diao told the Liverpool Echo it is not about the fans but more about the manager.

Mane and Nunez are in poor form

With Mane joining Bayern Munich, it has not been the kind of start to life he expected. The former Southampton star has come in for criticism as the Bundesliga champions sit fourth on the log. While Mane is struggling to find his rhythm at Bayern, his replacement at Liverpool is also battling to find his feet (literally) at Anfield. The Uruguayan striker has just one goal in the Premier League this season.

Mane has failed to score in his last four Bundesliga games that Bayern failed to win. He was in action when Bayern beat Barcelona in the Champions League but failed to score. Nunez has also struggled at Anfield, with his only Premier League goal coming against Fulham in a 2-2 draw. Since that game, Nunez has managed just two appearances after a three-match suspension for headbutting Joachim Anderson in the match against Crystal Palace.

According to Salif Diao, things did not go as they should for Mane, and he decided to go for a new challenge. The former Liverpool midfielder believes a change is good after four or five years at a club.
