José Mourinho tells Raúl Asencio to find new club

José Mourinho has reportedly informed Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio that he is not part of the club’s plans for the upcoming season, casting fresh doubt over the centre-back’s future in the Spanish capital.

The 23-year-old has already faced growing uncertainty following changes to Real Madrid’s defensive options, and the latest report suggests the club have now decided to move him on before the transfer window closes.

José Mourinho makes Raúl Asencio’s decision

According to Real Madrid journalist Sergio Valentín, Mourinho has personally told Asencio that he is not counting on him for next season.

The report adds that the club and the player’s representative, Jorge Mendes, are now working together to find a suitable destination for the defender.

Despite that, Asencio is understood to prefer staying at Real Madrid and competing for playing time under the club’s new coaching staff.

Real Madrid’s defense is reshaped for new season

Asencio’s future has come under increasing scrutiny following the arrival of Ibrahima Konaté and the contract renewal handed to Antonio Rüdiger.

The defender also faces competition in a back line that includes Dean Huijsen, while Éder Militão remains part of the squad despite currently being sidelined.

Those developments have led to Asencio being viewed by many as the player most likely to leave among Real Madrid’s central defensive options.

Real Madrid and Jorge Mendes seek transfer solution

The report states that Real Madrid and Jorge Mendes are actively searching for an exit that suits both the club and the player.

Although Asencio has expressed his desire to remain in Madrid, Mourinho’s position reportedly leaves a summer departure as the most likely outcome.

The Portuguese coach is also said to be looking to strengthen the centre of his defence further before the end of the transfer window, reinforcing the club’s plans for another addition in that area.
