Jadon Sancho future still up in the air despite great Dortmund loan stint

He may have impressed back at the Westfalenstadion with Borussia Dortmund, but nobody – not even Eden Terzic the manager, or the player himself – is willing to say anything about Jadon Sancho’s future.

After throwing caution to the wind in the early months of the 2023/24 season and going up against Erik ten Hag at Manchester United for perceived injustices, the England winger was ostracised from Old Trafford. The following months were brutal for him and eventually, the manager, the player and the club agreed that he had to find somewhere else to play football.

Dortmund jumped at the opportunity to have their former player back and the linkup happened. Sancho slowly built back his confidence, his reputation and continued his development. All his efforts culminated in a show of brilliance against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League last week.

United are reportedly excited about the prospect of getting good money for the player who cost them £85 million to acquire. Dortmund are also excited about the prospect of having Sancho back in the team. Still, both parties – Dortmund especially – are refusing to speak on the issue.

“We have talked about the short-term future,” said the Borussia boss ahead of their second leg clash with PSG. “This is tomorrow, with a very important game, maybe also the biggest game in his career so far.”

“We are really happy with him. From all sides we are happy to have him in our team. I think you can feel that he is happy to be with us.”

“We don’t know how long the story will continue. This is part of the deal, that he is not our player from July 1, but until then we are going to make this time that we have as special as possible.”

“We are really feeling that he is in a good way. I think that big games are decided by big players and tomorrow he will have the opportunity to decide it.”

Man United fans who want the winger to leave may also not get their wish if ten Hag leaves the club at the end of the season. The Dutchman’s continuity is uncertain and this could spell good news for Sancho’s Old Trafford future.

Sancho will start against PSG at Parc de Princes on Tuesday evening. He will be hoping to add to his three goals and two assists for them since joining the club in the winter transfer window.

All is set for an exciting summer between both clubs for Jadon Sancho.
