Inzaghi Hails Thuram’s Drive After Inter’s 4-0 Win Over Atalanta

Inter Milan showcased their strength with a dominant 4-0 victory over Atalanta at San Siro, with Marcus Thuram stealing the spotlight by scoring twice. A deflection off Berat Djimsiti added to Thuram’s tally, while Nicolò Barella contributed a stunning volley from distance. Inter coach Simone Inzaghi expressed his contentment with the team’s performance, particularly highlighting Thuram’s attitude and desire.

Inter’s Commanding Performance

The Nerazzurri set the tone early, overwhelming Atalanta with a powerful first-half display. Inzaghi commended his squad for their efforts, especially during the initial 30 minutes when they effectively secured the win. “The boys performed excellently, particularly in the opening half-hour,” Inzaghi shared with DAZN. Although Inter’s intensity waned slightly towards the match’s conclusion, the coach was delighted with the outcome, noting the satisfaction of overcoming a challenging opponent like Atalanta.

Despite the convincing scoreline, Inter had opportunities to increase their lead further. However, there were moments, particularly in stoppage time, where players like Marko Arnautovic seemed more focused on creating opportunities for others or attempting elaborate plays rather than taking direct shots.

Thuram’s Growing Influence

Marcus Thuram has been a standout player for Inter this season, continuing to build on his performances from the previous year. Inzaghi was full of praise for the forward, emphasizing that his success is driven by his mentality and hunger. “Thuram is gaining more experience in Serie A and is improving on last season. It all starts from his mentality and his hunger,” said Inzaghi, noting that Thuram even returned early from vacation to join the team, aware of how crucial his presence would be.

Inzaghi also acknowledged the positive contributions from other strikers, including Taremi and Arnautovic, who performed well when they entered the match. The coach emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards across the team, showing that their ambitions remain strong.

Injury Worries and Ambitions

While the victory was comprehensive, it was not without concerns, as Hakan Calhanoglu and Alessandro Bastoni both left the field with minor injuries. Inzaghi mentioned that these issues would require further evaluation to determine their seriousness.

Reflecting on the previous season’s Scudetto win, Inzaghi stressed the need for continuous improvement. “We have to work every day to keep raising the bar. Our competitors have made significant investments and strengthened a lot, but we will push to the end,” he concluded, underlining Inter’s determination to compete at the highest level throughout the season.
