Inter Miami have decided not to take up their option to begin negotiations with Kevin De Bruyne, who will leave Manchester City at the end of the season. The MLS club had included the midfielder on their ‘discovery list’, granting them exclusive rights within the league to hold talks with the Belgian international.
They had until mid-July to act, but sources told the club has opted not to move forward. As a result, the prospect of De Bruyne joining Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Luis Suarez in Florida is now off the table.
Chicago Fire ready to enter negotiations
With Miami no longer in the race, Chicago Fire now holds the priority to speak with De Bruyne about a potential move to Major League Soccer. The midfielder revealed in April that he would be leaving City once his current contract concludes.
Representatives of the 33-year-old are expected to meet with the Chicago-based club, who are currently positioned 11th in the Eastern Conference standings. De Bruyne, who was surprised not to receive a renewal offer from Manchester City, has collected 16 major trophies during his time in England, including six Premier League championships and a Champions League title in 2023.
