Harry Kane putting Conte era behind him as he seeks to finish season strong with Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane has insisted that the club and the squad are putting the Antonio Conte era behind them and are focusing on the rest of the season.

The team is now led by the Italian’s assistant Christian Stellini while the club works on finding a new manager. The Italian has been able to steady the ship for Spurs, drawing his first match against Everton and bringing a more measured approach to the side.

He is unlikely to continue in the role come the summer but he will be auditioning for it while Daniel Levy and his executives keep searching for a new manager.

Kane is ready to go to work with Stellini and the rest of the team, who he claims are putting Conte’s outburst behind them in order to face their goal of securing UEFA Champions League football for next season.

The Spurs ace, who opened the scoring from the penalty spot in their 1 – 1 toe away at Everton on Monday evening stated this before the match. “He had his opinions on the matter and obviously it was an emotional moment after a disappointing end to that game,” he said of Conte’s rant after the 3-3 draw against Southampton.

“I don’t want to get into it too much. We’re focused on trying to achieve the top four. We can’t look at the past, we have to start now and look at these games ahead of us and that’s what we’ll try to do.”

Kane, however, could be elsewhere when Levy and his executives make the decision on who to appoint to replace Conte ahead of next summer.

The 29-year-old is wanted by Manchester United, who are looking to recreate the Robin Van Persie effect using Kane’s talents next season. He is also said to be a target of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Levy will be focused on keeping Kane and finding a manager who can maximise what he offers to the club.

Kane, on the other hand, has a big decision to make on his future as he approaches his thirties.

The former Arsenal youth has become the club’s leading goalscorer but has no trophies to show for it. He has also made it into the Premier League’s 200 club, an exclusive list of only two other players who have scored 200 goals.

It remains to be seen what his decision will be and if he will be playing under Conte’s replacement next season.
