Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has rejoined full team sessions following time out with an ankle issue. The 24-year-old picked up the problem during City’s 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final victory against Bournemouth on 30 March.
Since the injury, Haaland has been following a tailored recovery routine away from the main squad. On Wednesday, he resumed working with the rest of the team at their training base.
The Norwegian has registered 39 goals across international and club fixtures so far this season. Although no specific date has been given for his return to match action, manager Pep Guardiola is anticipated to give an update during his Thursday press conference ahead of their Premier League clash with Wolves.
Rodri continues comeback following long-term knee injury
Midfield anchor Rodri has also taken part in first-team training after a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The Spain international, 28, has not featured since suffering a ruptured ACL in September.
Rodri, who won the 2024 Ballon d’Or, was previously seen undergoing solo fitness work at the Etihad Campus earlier this year. Despite joining group drills, a competitive return during the current domestic campaign remains unlikely.
The Club World Cup in June is viewed by those close to the situation as a more realistic target for his comeback, with the remaining league fixtures and the upcoming FA Cup final expected to come too soon.
Guardiola addressed the situation last week, noting that Rodri is eager to play again but emphasizing that clearance from medical staff will determine his availability. “Rodri wants [to play], but the doctor will have to say, ‘Pep, you have the green light to give him minutes,’” said the City boss.
City’s title defence ends as focus shifts to final matches
Manchester City sits in fourth place in the league standings and has seen their four-year hold on the Premier League title come to an end, with Liverpool crowned champions.
City welcomes Wolves to the Etihad Stadium on Friday evening, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00 BST. They will also contest the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace at Wembley on 17 May.
