Gravenberch speaks on Reds preparation and plans for rest of UCL season

Liverpool and Girona will go head to head in the UEFA Champions League on matchday 6 at the Montilivi Stadium. Both teams are at the far ends of the spectrum in the competition and the Reds are now looking to build on their strong start to the season.

They have a 100 percent record in the Champions League and have already qualified for the next round. This means Girona and their other opponents are target practice. The Catalans, meanwhile, are not enthused about this possibility and are readying themselves for a battle on matchday 6.

In light of this, Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has spoken out about how his team will approach the rest of the league phase, seeing that they are safely through to the next round.

“Of course, you want to win every game, so for us our aim is to win every group game and then we will see further. If we win every game, that would mean a lot to us,” he began.

“I feel good, I feel fit. When you play a lot of minutes you get fitter and fitter and for me that’s the thing.

“For me, the first season was not that frustrating. My aim was to play a lot more minutes than I had before and I did. Now, I am just happy to play 90 minutes again and be every game on the pitch and that I show myself. I am really happy to be part of this team.

“I think everyone can still improve – so can I. It goes really well but maybe I can do a bit more in defending. I am really happy with the performances I now have and so I have to keep going.”

Then he spoke briefly about how it felt to defeat Real Madrid and Bayer 04 Leverkusen. “It’s nice, it’s nice to beat them because they are really good teams. For us, we look game by game and then we’ll say further.”

He was also asked about Liverpool’s chances without World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister, who is being rested to recover from a slight knock ahead of the Premier League weekend where they will face Tottenham Hotspur.

“We know Macca is a really good player and we will miss him because he is a top player with really good quality. We do also have other midfielders that are really good and I think they will show that tomorrow also, so we will see.”
