Arsenal legend David Seaman has mentioned Gareth Bale as a player who Arsenal should consider signing in the summer.
The legendary goalkeeper who now works in football media was talking about his former club’s upcoming summer, which reports have touted to be an investment-heavy one for the Gunners.
Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has reportedly committed £180 million to help the club strengthen in a few key positions and manager Mikel Arteta is busy drawing up a transfer list with the club’s director of football, Edu Gaspar.
Seaman, talking about Arsenal’s potential targets on his podcast, the Seaman Says show, touted Real Madrid man Bale as a player for Arteta and Edu to look at.
Bale featured for Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur before moving to Real Madrid in 2013 for £85 million.
The 32-year-old helped the Spanish giants win multiple titles in that time, including four Champions League titles, to make him the most accomplished player from the United Kingdom in history.
His relationship with Los Blancos has since turned sour, and he returned to Spurs on loan last season for six months to great effect, showing that he can still function to a high degree in the Premier League.
He has also not slowed down on the international stage, as his performances for Wales – who he captains – keeps his name in conversations.
Now on the verge of exit, with Real Madrid desperate to be rid of him, Seaman has touted Bale as an option for Arsenal.
“I was going to say Arsenal, but I just realised he [Bale] played for Tottenham. I would take him, I would take him all day long,” Seaman said.
“He’s a quality player, there’s no doubt about that. He’ll come back and hopefully, he’ll play in the Premier League.
“Quality like that is good to see, especially with his free-kicks. It’s not just his free-kicks, it’s his delivery as well, the corners and the free-kicks he crosses in. It’s like James Ward-Prowse.”
Bale may also be calling it quits on his football career in the next few months according to reports. The Welshman is currently disenfranchised with football and is only interested in taking Wales to their first World Cup since 1964.
They are one step closer to the global showpiece in Qatar holding from November 21 to December 18 2022. They will have to wait to battle the winner of Scotland vs Ukraine, which was postponed from the just concluded international break to June due to the unrest in Ukraine.
Bale is reportedly going to look for a smaller club in his home country of Wales or in the lower divisions of English football to stay match fit if Wales make it to the World Cup.
Spurs are also reported to be considering a third move for Bale in the summer.
