Initially, Southgate had shortlisted 33 players but trimmed the list to 26, leaving out goalkeeper James Trafford, defenders Jarrad Branthwaite, Harry Maguire, and Jarell Quansah, midfielder Curtis Jones, and forwards Jack Grealish and James Maddison. Despite not making the final squad, Quansah remains with the team and might play against Iceland, although he won’t be heading to Germany unless injuries occur.
