England will be back – Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford boost

Following their ouster in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Jack Grealish claims England will be back stronger and better. Marcus Rashford agreed with the Manchester City star that the Three Lions would make history in future tournaments.

Undoubtedly, the Qatar 2022 World Cup has proven to be a tournament for the underdogs, with countries like Saudi Arabia, Japan and Morocco all springing surprises. While several top footballing nations like Germany, Spain and Belgium failed to carry their weight, some represented well. The Netherlands, France, Argentina and Brazil went far in the competition.

England, Croatia and the Netherlands were among the dark horses to win the tournament, but only Croatia is still in the competition. The 2018 finalists have confounded many followers of the competition, especially the way they dumped Brazil out of the World Cup. A late comeback saw them clinch victory and reach the semi-final.

England were supposed to emulate Croatia when they took on France, but the Three Lions could not muster the required resources to overcome the defending champions. England lost 2-1 to Les Bleus in a game that could have gone either way. The loss has left England downcast, but a couple of their players have promised they would be back.

We will be back – England pair declare

In a statement akin to Arnold Schwarzenegger in the famous The Terminator movie, two England players have rehashed the phrase after crashing out of the World Cup at the hands of the defending champions France. Following the 2-1 loss in the quarter-final, Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford have told anyone that cares to listen that the Three Lions will be back.

Jack Grealish believes the Three Lions would make history at future tournaments. The Manchester City star is persuaded their performance in Qatar suggests they are in good stead to storm the world. Grealish has backing from countrymate Marcus Rashford. The Manchester United forward agrees with Grealish that England will make a strong response in the future.

Grealish wrote on Twitter that the team was devastated to crash out, and words can’t describe the feeling as he thought this was the year England would land the World Cup.

He declared his pride in their Qatar achievements, saying it is a privilege to be with this group of players and staff.

A painful defeat for England

There was the belief in the ranks of the Three Lions that they could overcome Les Bleus. It was an exciting and keenly contested affair decided by the tiniest margins. England lost 2-1 to France and again showed they were not an elite team. The game was the first time England was coming up against a real opposition in Qatar, and they failed to deliver.

The defeat to Les Bleus was a seventh World Cup quarter-final elimination for England – a tournament record.

With the focus on Kylian Mbappe, Griezmann became the architect for the destruction of England. He created the chance for the first goal, with Aurelien Tchouameni scoring.

Harry Kane pulled one back from the penalty spot after Tchouameni clipped Bukayo Saka in the box.

Griezmann turned provider in the second half as his cross into the box was met by a powerful header from Olivier Giroud.

England had the chance to get another equalizer, but Harry Kane fluffed his lines as he sent his second penalty of the game over the bar.

Rashford was on the same page with Jack Grealish. He claimed they came close, but it wasn’t enough. The Manchester United forward promised England would be back and thanked the fans for their unconditional support.
