Eddie Howe Sidelined for Man Utd Fixture

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has been admitted to hospital and will not be present for the club’s Premier League clash against Manchester United on Sunday. The 47-year-old reportedly sought medical attention late on Friday after feeling unwell for several days, according to a statement from the club.

The update confirmed that Howe remains in hospital for additional medical evaluation. He is conscious, communicating with loved ones, and continues to be monitored by healthcare professionals. The club expressed its support, saying, “Everyone at Newcastle United extends their best wishes to Eddie for a speedy recovery,” while also noting that more information would be provided when available.

Tindall and Jones to Lead Against Manchester United

In the absence of Howe, his assistants Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones will oversee first-team responsibilities for the upcoming fixture. Tindall already handled media duties during the pre-match press conference held on Friday.

Sunday’s match will take place at St James’ Park, with Newcastle set to face the visiting side led by Ruben Amorim. The game comes at a crucial point in the season, with Newcastle currently sitting in seventh position in the league standings.

Howe’s Tenure and Recent Achievements

Eddie Howe, born in Amersham, took over managerial duties at Newcastle United in November 2021, following the departure of Steve Bruce. Since his appointment, he has overseen 165 matches in all competitions, recording 84 wins, 36 draws, and 45 defeats.

Under his leadership, the club has achieved consistent league finishes—11th, 4th, and 7th over the past three seasons. One of the standout moments of his tenure came last month, when Newcastle secured their first domestic title in 70 years by winning the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley. Additionally, the team claimed a memorable victory over Paris St-Germain during the Champions League group stage in the 2023-24 season, although they did not progress beyond the group phase.

Howe has previously managed Bournemouth in two separate periods, as well as Burnley. He has often been mentioned in conversations about future national team appointments but clarified he was not interviewed for the England job when Gareth Southgate stepped down, and Thomas Tuchel was chosen instead.
