Dortmund in Loan Talks for Ramaj

Negotiations are underway between Borussia Dortmund and FC Heidenheim over a potential loan move for goalkeeper Diant Ramaj. The 23-year-old shot-stopper, who recently completed a temporary spell at FC Copenhagen, is not open to serving as a backup for the upcoming season at Dortmund. Despite being highly rated within the club, Ramaj faces limited opportunities due to the strong standing of first-choice keeper Gregor Kobel.

Heidenheim, meanwhile, appear ready to offer the young talent a meaningful role in the Bundesliga. Although long-serving goalkeeper Kevin Müller remains an important figure at the club and has recently extended his contract, the 34-year-old may be prepared to take on a secondary position in the squad to accommodate Ramaj.

Dortmund’s development plan faces key decision

The final decision on the transfer reportedly rests with Borussia Dortmund. According to Florian Plettenberg, Heidenheim have made clear their intention to proceed, but are waiting on Dortmund’s approval. The Bundesliga giants are keen to place Ramaj at a club in one of Europe’s top-tier leagues to ensure his continued growth and experience.

Ramaj, viewed by Dortmund as a future candidate for the starting role, was brought in from Eintracht Frankfurt with long-term ambitions in mind. His strong motivation and desire for first-team action have made a domestic loan seem like the most viable next step in his career.

Familiar territory for Ramaj

A potential move to Heidenheim would mark a return to familiar surroundings for the young keeper. Ramaj spent part of his early development at the club’s academy from 2018, and was even included in Frank Schmidt’s matchday squad three times before departing for Frankfurt in 2021. It was with Eintracht that he ultimately made his senior debut in professional football.
