Crystal Palace set to sign Ismaila Sarr from Marseille

Crystal Palace are on the verge of securing the services of winger Ismaila Sarr from Marseille, with the transfer fee anticipated to be around £12.5 million. The 26-year-old is expected to ink a five-year deal at Selhurst Park.

Sarr made the switch to Marseille from Watford in July of last year for an undisclosed amount. During his stint at Watford, he netted 34 goals in 131 matches and contributed five goals and six assists for Marseille across all competitions last season.

Senegal international and AFCON winner

The Senegalese winger has an impressive international record, scoring 13 goals in 64 appearances for his national team. Sarr was part of the squad that clinched the Africa Cup of Nations title in 2021 and has also participated in two World Cup tournaments.

Marseille, now under the management of former Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi, recently acquired Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood and are looking to balance their finances.

Palace’s active transfer window

Crystal Palace have been in the market for a replacement for Michael Olise, who recently moved to Bayern Munich for £50 million. The club has been proactive this summer, with several new signings to strengthen their squad.

Among the new arrivals are Daichi Kamada, a 27-year-old Japanese midfielder who joined on a free transfer from Lazio, and Chadi Riad, who has three caps for Morocco and was signed from Real Betis for £14 million.
