Cristiano Ronaldo on the January radar of a top Premier League side

A top Premier League side is interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo in the January transfer window. The Portugal international is willing to take a pay cut to facilitate the move.

Perhaps returning to Manchester United was a grave mistake Cristiano Ronaldo made. If he had ignored Sir Alex Ferguson, he might be in Manchester City now, doing what he loves best and receiving the accolades for his goals. Instead, the Portugal international is rolling with the embarrassment called Manchester United.

It is also tough to see the legend warming the bench while mediocre players with no history of fine performances have a rollicking time on the pitch, not delivering results. Time and time again, Erik Ten Hag has opted for Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, perhaps two of the most unreliable players in the history of Manchester United.

Ronaldo probably saw the handwriting on the wall and demanded a move in the summer transfer window. The move did not materialize as there were no takers for his services, and he had to remain at Old Trafford and suffer some of his worst embarrassment.

Redemption might be on the horizon for the Portugal legend as a top Premier League is keen on his services.

Ronaldo might join Chelsea in January
Ronaldo is going through the worst moments of his career. After playing for elite clubs like Real Madrid and Juventus, it is painful to watch what the great man has become at a club that has dropped several notches to ignominy. He is not getting game time and has had to watch lesser mortals take to the pitch ahead of him.

Ronaldo would love to leave the hell hole the Red Devils have gotten him. He desires the glorious nights of the Champions League and wants to hug the limelight again. He is currently in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. Redemption seems in sight for Ronaldo as Chelsea seems interested in bringing the forward to Stanford Bridge.

Todd Boehly tried to sign the Portugal international in the summer transfer window, but nothing came of the deal. Reports suggest that the American Chelsea owner is ready to reignite his interest in the Portugal star. Ronaldo could be playing for Chelsea in January.

A failed summer business
After Ronaldo stormed out of the stadium in the 2-0 win over Tottenham, he was left out of the squad to face Chelsea in their Premier League tie on Saturday. The recent moves by Erik Ten Hag suggest that Red Devils are inclined to let the former Real Madrid forward leave the club on loan.

Manchester United have not had suitors for the experienced forward, but it seems Chelsea is back in the picture after the failed summer move.

Todd Boehly wanted to sign Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, but at the request of the coach Thomas Tuchel, the Blues signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang instead. With the German no longer in the frame, Boehly could not pursue his dream of landing Ronaldo.

Graham Potter would welcome the signing as Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech have struggled to find the back of the net this season. The signing of Ronaldo would allow him to shift Aubameyang to the wing.

Ronaldo is ready to reduce his wages to facilitate a move as it was an obstacle in the summer.
