As the World Cup rumbles on in all its glory and tantalizing excitement, it is worth remembering that there is still football after the tournament ends on December 18. The season is not yet over, and while players represent their countries in Qatar, they are also wary of picking up injuries.

It is also a veritable ground for clubs to scout and see potential targets. Different clubs are eyeing several targets hoping to conclude deals in the January transfer window. There are already deals in the pipeline, and only the tournament is holding discussions from happening.

While all is going on, Chelsea has already stolen a march on all comers as they try to seal a deal for French forward Christopher Nkunku, who unfortunately could not be a part of the World Cup. The RB Leipzig forward sustained an injury in training before the World Cup but is Chelsea bound.

Chelsea agree deal for Christopher Nkunku

Christopher Nkunku has been a target for Chelsea, and the Stamford Bridge side is close to finalizing the details of a move. Nkunku will join the Blues as Chelsea is close to completing a deal for his services ahead of the next summer transfer window.

Chelsea have struggled with scoring goals this term and wants to bolster their attack. The Blues have yet to find a consistent rhythm under Todd Boehly, and the American owner is keen for things to get moving. Christopher Nkunku seems a perfect addition to the Blues.

According to award-winning journalist Fabrizio Romano, the deal for the RB Leipzig forward has moved a step forward, as Chelsea has agreed on a fee for the French man. Romano claims the figure for the deal is over £52 million. He also reports that both clubs have agreed to a structure for the transfer to help make the payments easier for Chelsea.

According to Romano, Nkunku has completed a medical and is due to sign a long-term contract that kicks off in June 2023.
