Bournemouth land France international Truffert

Bournemouth have secured the services of French defender Adrien Truffert from Ligue 1 side Rennes in a transfer valued at £14.4 million. The 23-year-old has signed a contract running for five years with the Premier League outfit.

The move includes a base fee of £11.4 million, along with potential add-ons worth up to £3 million. Rennes have also ensured a 10% sell-on clause as part of the agreement.

Experienced defender joins from Rennes

Truffert began his senior career at Rennes in 2020 and went on to feature in 212 matches for the French club. His performances earned him the captaincy during his time there.

Having represented his country at various youth stages, Truffert stepped up to the senior France squad in 2022.

The left-sided defender expressed his enthusiasm about the transfer, saying, “It’s a great opportunity for me to keep progressing and to be part of an ambitious project.” He added that Bournemouth’s belief in his abilities was clear from their initial conversations.

Bournemouth eye squad changes

President of football operations Tiago Pinto shared his excitement about the addition, calling Truffert a player they have followed for some time. “He brings significant experience to the squad despite still being just 23,” Pinto noted.

Meanwhile, Milos Kerkez, who currently plays as a left-back for Bournemouth, is reportedly in discussions over a move to Liverpool, potentially making room for Truffert’s integration into the starting lineup.
