Ben Yedder Departs AS Monaco Following Contract Expiry

AS Monaco has officially announced that club captain Wissam Ben Yedder will leave the team when his contract expires. Ben Yedder, who joined Monaco in 2019, has become the second-highest scorer in the club’s history with 118 goals, trailing only Delio Onnis. This season, the 33-year-old forward scored 20 goals, helping Monaco secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 2018/19 season.

Conversations About the Future

The uncertainty surrounding Ben Yedder’s future was addressed by Monaco’s CEO, Thiago Scuro, in a recent roundtable interview attended by Get French Football News. Scuro shared insights into his recent discussions with the France international, noting, “I had a productive one-on-one conversation with him yesterday. It was an opportunity to reflect on the season, hear his thoughts on the future, and understand his perspective,” he said.

Scuro acknowledged the attractiveness of a player of Ben Yedder’s caliber being available on the market and highlighted that the decision regarding his future is mutual. “It’s not just up to Monaco; it’s also about what he wants. We are expecting further talks with his agent. Yesterday’s discussion was more of a reflection between us. We hope to make a decision this week. It’s still unclear what he desires as he is still contemplating,” Scuro added.

Decision Finalized

Following these discussions, it has been confirmed that Ben Yedder will not continue at AS Monaco. CEO Thiago Scuro praised the striker’s contributions, stating, “Everyone is aware of Wissam’s exceptional talent and his remarkable goal-scoring ability. His achievements on the field over the past five seasons are significant in the Club’s history. We wish him all the best for the future.”

Ben Yedder’s departure marks the end of a notable chapter for AS Monaco, as the club bids farewell to one of its most prolific scorers.
