Bayern’s Bundesliga win gives Kane and Dier their first trophy

Harry Kane and Eric Dier have finally claimed their first professional silverware, as Bayern Munich were officially crowned Bundesliga champions on Sunday. The English duo joined Bayern this season and have now ended their long wait for a major team honour.

The title was all but assured following Saturday’s dramatic clash against RB Leipzig, where Bayern came from behind to draw 3-3. Despite trailing by two goals at halftime, the reigning champions scored twice in under a minute and then took the lead through Leroy Sané with ten minutes left. But Leipzig icon Yussuf Poulsen struck in the fifth minute of stoppage time, delaying the title confirmation for another day.

Although Bayern missed the chance to seal the championship outright on Saturday, their vastly superior goal difference meant that only an unlikely set of results could deny them the title. All eyes then turned to Sunday’s clash between Bayer Leverkusen and Freiburg.

Freiburg crush Leverkusen to trigger Bayern celebrations

With the Bundesliga trophy hanging in the balance, the Bayern squad gathered at Käfer Restaurant in Munich to follow Leverkusen’s crucial visit to top-four chasers Freiburg. Xabi Alonso’s men needed a win to keep their slim hopes alive, but they were overwhelmed by a dominant Freiburg performance.

The home side delivered a commanding display and ran out comfortable winners by a wide margin (exact score not specified), effectively ending Leverkusen’s challenge and handing Bayern their 33rd German league crown. Jubilant scenes followed in the restaurant as players and staff celebrated the achievement.

For Kane and Dier, the Bundesliga title marks the first major trophy of their careers. Both players have long been considered key figures in high-profile teams, but success had always eluded them until now.

While Kane is expected to remain in Munich, Dier’s future lies elsewhere. The defender is set for a move to AS Monaco in France at the end of the season. Veteran forward Thomas Müller, meanwhile, added a record-extending 13th Bundesliga title to his résumé, but this will be his last with Bayern as he prepares to depart the club this summer.

After years of near misses, Kane and Dier finally have a winner’s medal to their names—an achievement made even sweeter by Bayern’s dramatic path to glory.
