Arteta hails Arsenal’s hunger after another dominant win

Arsenal continued their top run of form in the Premier League, following a 6-0 win over Sheffield United on Monday night. The Gunners were dominant from start to finish, scoring five goals in the first half against a Blades side that looked uninspired from start to finish.

Arsenal’s blistering form is highlighted by the fact that the Gunners have now become the first team in history in the top four tiers of English football to win three consecutive away games by five goals or more without conceding.

It is the opposite for Sheffield United, who have also become the first team to suffer three consecutive defeats by conceding at least five goals.

Mikel Arteta was pleased with his side’s performance and hailed their never-ending resilience and hunger, as has been evident by the team since the start of 2024.

Arteta hails Arsenal’s spirited performance

Speaking after Arsenal’s win against Sheffield, Arteta said: “A great night – it’s a really difficult place to come but the way we started the game obviously made the difference. We were really aggressive, really positive and we showed real quality, especially in the final third to take the game into a position where it was in a big favour for us and then we maintained it. We maintained the rhythm, the hunger and I love that about the team.”

“We are trying to improve in every phase of play; they are understanding the chemistry of the players and the desire they have to constantly be better, and improve in every area. If you do that, there are moments that you can be as dominant but it’s not easy that’s for sure.”

Another 6-0 win for Arsenal meant they have now scored 68 goals, which is the most by any side in the Premier League this season. In a title race that could potentially go down the wire, goal difference could play a big role and Arteta is well aware of that fact.

He added: “We don’t know. Obviously, the fact we scored so many goals and not conceding is a great sign, but it’s about winning every game now, and that’s the demands those two clubs have put over the last six or seven years, and that’s the task ahead of us.”

Arsenal will look to continue their rich run of form when they take on Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday. With Manchester City and Liverpool also locking horns this weekend, the fixture against the Bees now counts as a must-win for Arteta and his side.
