Arsenal’s Saka Suffers Leg Injury in England’s Loss

England and Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka suffered a right leg injury during England’s 2-1 loss to Greece at Wembley Stadium on Thursday. The 23-year-old was substituted in the early stages of the second half after struggling with discomfort in his leg.

Saka Withdrawn After Injury

Saka’s night ended prematurely when he was replaced by Chelsea’s Noni Madueke in the 51st minute. He appeared to be in discomfort before Greece’s Vangelis Pavlidis scored the game’s opening goal. The Arsenal forward was seen stretching and holding the back of his right leg, suggesting he might have picked up a muscle issue. Eventually, Saka sat down on the pitch, prompting the substitution.

England’s interim head coach Lee Carsley commented on the incident, stating, “He’s being assessed. You can see in the lead-up to their first goal that something wasn’t right with his leg. We’ll know more as soon as the medical team evaluates him.”

England’s Injury Woes Continue

Saka’s injury adds to England’s growing list of concerns, with the team already missing Harry Kane and Jack Grealish for the defeat against Greece. Both players have been dealing with their own injury problems, but are expected to be available for Sunday’s match against Finland. The Three Lions will hope that Saka’s condition improves before the next international fixtures, though his return date remains unclear.

England’s loss came as a blow, especially with a string of key players unavailable. Despite this setback, the team is focused on bouncing back in their next match.

Arsenal’s Fitness Concerns

At club level, Arsenal are also feeling the impact of injuries. In addition to Saka, they are without their captain, Martin Odegaard, who sustained an ankle injury while playing for Norway in September. The Gunners face a crucial period of fixtures with Premier League action resuming on 19 October against Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium.

Mikel Arteta will be hoping for Saka’s swift recovery, as the winger is a vital part of Arsenal’s attack. The club is already working to manage Odegaard’s absence, and losing Saka would be a further blow as they push to maintain their form in the Premier League.
