According to a report by Fichajes, Arsenal are considering a move for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga as a replacement for Thomas Partey.
The Gunners finished second for the third consecutive season in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, and they have been looking for solutions to improve the quality of the squad.
Mikel Arteta’s side are looking for solutions and options in midfield following the exit of Jorginho and the imminent departure of Partey. Jorginho left for Flamengo and has been featuring for the Brazilian club at the FIFA Club World Cup in the USA, while Partey is on his way out after talks broke down.
Although the North London club is expected to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad any moment from now, it appears Arteta is still interested in signing another midfielder. Those new faces should be able to create a surge in Arsenal match tickets for the 2025/26 season.
Arsenal turn to Camavinga
Arsenal has not made any official signings in the transfer window at the time of writing, but there has been progress as regards some players in the market. In midfield, where Jorginho has already left, the Gunners are close to bringing Martin Zubimendi in from Spain.
However, Arteta and the club’s hierarchy are looking at another player in midfield as they prepare for life after Partey, and that has led them to Camavinga. Arteta believes the Frenchman is the perfect replacement for the defensive midfield role due to his work rate, passing, and overall quality.
Camavinga, 22, still has a lot of years ahead of him but has not been playing regularly in the white of Real Madrid. Though he earns well above £200,000 a week at the Bernabeu, nailing a starting berth was difficult to come by for him under erstwhile manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Meanwhile, Xabi Alonso, who replaced the Italian manager, is said to be a fan of his and sees the Frenchman as part of his big plans at the club, especially with Luka Modric leaving after the FIFA Club World Cup.
According to DefensaCentral, the Gunners believe they could convince Madrid with an offer above 50 million euros, taking advantage of the fact that the French player hasn’t had his best season due to the physical problems he’s been struggling with for months. However, Los Blancos are not going to consider the offer, as they view the player as not sellable.
This is just June, even if the Gunners cannot get their hands on Camavinga, there is still time to find another alternative in the market as they look to compete on every front in the 2025/26 season.
