Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun has revealed that he would not be open to the idea of going on loan again, after playing his part as the United States claimed the Concacaf Nations League on Sunday.
The 21-year-old recently switched his international allegiance from England and scored a goal in his second game for the USA. The victory saw the United States seal a 2-0 win against Canada on Sunday.
Balogun has enjoyed a spectacular season, having joined Reims on loan from Arsenal. The youngster scored 21 goals in a breakthrough season with the French outfit and is now attracting interest from a host of sides as the transfer window hits full swing.
Arsenal are tempted to sell the forward for an attractive price while other reports claim the Gunners could consider sending Balogun on yet another loan-move.
However, Balogun’s latest statement hints that he only wants to remain at Arsenal to secure first-team football or leave the club on a permanent basis.
Balogun does not want another loan move
“I’m not sure [about] the discussions that are going to take place,” he said.
“I’m not sure what’s going to happen. But I’m just committed to now; I try to stay present. I obviously want to enjoy the moment with my team and my family.
“What I can say is that I definitely won’t go on loan again.”
Balogun only signed a four-year Arsenal contract in 2021 but has only made two Premier League appearances since his senior debut in 2020.
He spent the second half of the 2021-22 season on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough before joining French club Reims on loan in August 2022.
Gabriel Jesus has led the line as Arsenal’s first choice striker since joining from Manchester City last summer, with Eddie Nketiah coming in as his replacement, when the Brazilian was on the sidelines for more than three months with a knee injury.
Arsenal are in talks to sign Chelsea forward Kai Havertz this summer.
Balogun has attracted interest from the likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan and some Premier League clubs.
The US, who won the inaugural Concacaf Nations League in 2021, retained the title in Las Vegas as Chris Richards scored in the 12th minute and Balogun in the 34th.
“It’s amazing. It’s a dream scenario for me,” said Balogun.
“To be here now, the transition is amazing. I’m just overwhelmed with delight.”
