Mutizwa leaves Richards Bay in surprise exit

South African side Richards Bay have parted ways with Zimbabwean striker Knox Mutizwa in a surprising development late in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.

The 32-year-old forward, who joined the club at the start of the season following his exit from Lamontville Golden Arrows, made 17 appearances across all competitions and scored four goals.

His departure has raised questions, particularly as it comes with roughly two months remaining before the end of the season. According to South African media, iDiski times, Mutizwa was reportedly instructed to leave the club early last week and has since stopped training with the squad.

At this stage, the club has not issued a detailed public statement explaining the reasons behind the decision.

Mutizwa’s arrival at Richards Bay had been seen as a key move to strengthen the attacking department after the departure of Yanela Mbuthuma to Orlando Pirates.

Prior to joining Richards Bay, Mutizwa had established himself as a reliable forward during his time at Golden Arrows, where he spent 8 seasons and scored 55 goals across all competitions for the club.

His sudden exit now leaves Richards Bay with limited attacking options at a crucial stage of the season, as teams push to secure their positions on the league table.

Mutizwa’s next move has not yet been confirmed.
