Leeds United has secured the signing of defender James Justin from Leicester City in a transfer valued at £10m.
The 27-year-old has penned a four-year agreement at Elland Road, becoming the Yorkshire club’s 10th arrival of the summer. The package includes an initial £8m fee plus £2m in performance-related clauses.
Justin will not feature in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup second-round match at Sheffield Wednesday. Leeds’ next league fixture is a home meeting with Newcastle on Saturday.
Career so far
Justin began his professional journey at Luton Town before moving to Leicester in 2019. During his spell with the Foxes, he made 169 appearances and scored 11 goals. Comfortable on either side of the defense, he contributed to the team’s success both domestically and in cup competitions.
He was part of the squad that lifted the FA Cup in 2021 and played a role in Leicester’s Championship-winning campaign in 2024. On the international stage, he has one England cap, which came in 2022 against Hungary in the Nations League.
Speaking after his move, Justin described Leeds as “a club of this size” with “one of the best atmospheres in world football.” He added that visiting Elland Road as an opponent had always been tough, but he now looked forward to having the home support on his side.
Leeds’ transfer activity
The club remains active in the transfer market ahead of the deadline. Last week, Swiss forward Noah Okafor arrived from AC Milan for £18m.
Other additions this summer include striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, midfielders Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff, goalkeeper Lucas Perri, full-back Gabriel Gudmundsson, and center-back Jaka Bijol. Sebastiaan Bornauw and Lukas Nmecha have also joined after spells with Wolfsburg.
Meanwhile, Leicester have seen significant departures since their relegation. Conor Coady, Wilfred Ndidi, Mads Hermansen, and Kasey McAteer have all moved on, with overall sales, including Justin, reaching close to £50m.
