Bukayo Saka will be absent from Arsenal’s upcoming trip to Liverpool on Sunday and will also sit out England’s World Cup qualifying fixtures against Andorra and Serbia in the following month.
The forward, aged 23, sustained a hamstring issue during the weekend victory over Leeds United at Emirates Stadium. Initial assessments suggest he will not be available for approximately four weeks.
This is viewed with caution at Arsenal, particularly as Saka missed three months of the previous campaign due to a similar problem. However, there is confidence the current issue will not result in a prolonged absence.
Odegaard facing race to recover
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is also a concern ahead of the Anfield clash. The Norwegian international suffered a shoulder problem during the first half of the 5-0 triumph against Leeds and had to be substituted.
The 26-year-old midfielder was visibly in discomfort when leaving the field and later departed the ground with his arm supported in a sling. Despite the setback, he has not been ruled out of contention for Sunday’s contest, with cautious optimism inside the club about his availability.
Depth providing cover for Arteta
Arsenal strengthened their forward options during the summer transfer window with the arrivals of Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, and Eberechi Eze. These additions expand the choices available to manager Mikel Arteta.
Alongside new recruits, the squad still includes Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, Ethan Nwaneri, and Max Dowman, ensuring there are alternatives in attacking positions while Saka and Odegaard recover.
