Liverpool name price for Elliott amid rising interest

Following Harvey Elliott’s exceptional performances at the Under-21 European Championship — where he not only helped secure the title for England but was also named Player of the Tournament — Liverpool have defined the financial requirements for a potential move. With increased attention on the midfielder, the Merseyside club has placed a valuation on his transfer that depends on the inclusion of a buy-back clause.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Liverpool will consider offers starting at £40 million ($55 million) if they include the option to re-sign the player in the future. If a buying club prefers no such clause, the asking price increases to £50 million ($69 million). These terms reflect both the club’s recognition of Elliott’s talent and their desire to retain long-term options, particularly if he thrives away from Anfield.

Despite having two years left on his current contract, Elliott’s situation is attracting attention from several clubs. Though Liverpool remain in control contractually, they appear open to a transfer, given the player’s desire for a more central role.

Midfielder seeking regular football at elite level

The 22-year-old midfielder featured minimally in the Premier League last season, starting just twice — both appearances coming after Liverpool’s title charge had already ended. As a result, Elliott is now evaluating possibilities that would allow for greater consistency in his playing time, especially with clubs competing at the highest level in Europe.

Sources indicate Elliott is keen to secure a starting role and could consider a move abroad, with RB Leipzig reportedly monitoring his availability. The Bundesliga outfit may explore either a full transfer or an initial loan, though no decision has yet been made.

Liverpool have not blocked Elliott from exploring options, but are firm in their stance on the structure of any agreement, especially when it comes to overseas deals. A future buy-back clause is viewed as a priority should the player leave for a non-domestic club.

Role talks with Arne Slot expected soon

Elliott is scheduled to speak with Liverpool manager Arne Slot in the coming weeks to better understand where he fits into the squad’s plans for the upcoming season. These discussions will likely influence whether the midfielder stays to fight for a place or moves on to pursue more guaranteed minutes elsewhere.

Clubs offering UEFA Champions League opportunities may hold an advantage in securing his signature, especially as Elliott looks to continue progressing at the top level. Liverpool, meanwhile, are in the midst of reshaping their squad in the post-Klopp era but remain open to the idea of bringing Elliott back down the line — should he move and fulfill his potential elsewhere.
