Juventus held to frustrating 2-2 draw against Parma

In a disappointing display, Juventus was forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against Parma, further complicating their title aspirations. Parma struck first, gaining an early advantage that Juventus quickly leveled. The visitors then reclaimed the lead before halftime, but Juventus responded with an equalizer early in the second half. Although the Bianconeri pushed for a winner, they couldn’t capitalize on their chances, leaving them frustrated as the game ended in a draw.

The result pushed Juventus down to fourth place in the standings, as Atalanta’s simultaneous victory allowed them to move ahead. Now trailing the league leaders by seven points, Juventus faces an uphill battle to close the gap and reenter the title race.

Motta’s reaction to missed opportunities

Following the game, Juventus manager Thiago Motta expressed his disappointment in the post-match press conference, as reported by TMW. Motta acknowledged that the team fell short of their objectives, stating, “Tonight we wanted a different result, because we know we can do better. Today we didn’t do what was necessary to win. We need to leave this game behind and recover our energy to face Udinese at our best.”

Motta attributed the missed opportunities to individual mistakes, adding, “It’s part of the game. We have very strong players who at times want to do too much and make mistakes. We have to do better and we certainly will, because we have very strong players.”

Defensive woes and team dynamics

When questioned about the defense, particularly the Federico GattiDanilo pairing, Motta refrained from singling out players and focused on overall team balance. He explained, “During the whole match we have to bring balance to the game in the opponent’s half. We often committed in the final meters and we allowed Parma to restart. Physically and psychologically we gave the opponents an advantage.”

Despite the setback, Motta remained hopeful that Juventus can address their issues and continue fighting for the title. With their focus now turning to the upcoming match against Udinese, the Bianconeri will need a more disciplined approach to avoid dropping further points in their pursuit of the top.
