Ange Postecoglou hails Spurs for Manchester United victory

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has hailed his team for how they performed against Manchester United in their Premier League clash which left the Red Devils fans bemused.

“It was a great win, but an even better performance,” Ange told our Review Show from the tunnel at Old Trafford. “I thought the lads were outstanding today, from the first minute they were at it, really aggressive without the ball, positive with the ball, won our duels, aggressive in everything we did. I’m just super proud of the boys’ efforts.

“Their red card is a consequence of our dominance, we put them under so much pressure, they couldn’t really get out of their half. We probably should have been out of sight by that stage with the chances we had, but even after that, against 10 men, I still felt we controlled the game really well. There is no doubt we deserved that victory.

“Yes, especially against Man United, even with 10 men, they post a danger,” he added. “They’ve always got the threat in transition, quick wingers, quick guys up front, even with 10 men you know you have to be really disciplined and concentrated. I thought we did that really well.”

Former Manchester United man Ashley Young has also weighed in on the game, stating what he believes was the problem with the Red Devils against Spurs.

“Manchester United just didn’t commit. There was no effort, no work rate, no one was running, they didn’t have any leaders on the pitch,” Young said.

“Everything seemed disjointed. It looked like there was just so many individuals all over the place. No one wanted to take the ball, no one wanted to create anything. Everything was bad from start to finish.”

He added, “When we talked at half-time about who was the home team, Tottenham were so comfortable. They didn’t do nothing. They didn’t get in behind. Tottenham’s two centre halves weren’t troubled. It looked like Tottenham were the home time, United fans are going to go home disappointed and rightly so as well.”
