Nicolas Jackson reflects on a perfect day for Chelsea against West Ham

Nicolas Jackson thought back on a “perfect” day in which Chelsea beat West Ham and took a commanding three points.

The striker scored twice at the London Stadium on Saturday before setting up Cole Palmer for the third goal just after the break to complete the win.

The double follows the brace he scored against the same opposition at the end of last season, with questions asking Jackson if he enjoys playing against West Ham when speaking to the Senegalese striker post-match.

Jackson happy to contribute in London Derby

“I like playing against any opponent when I’m helping the team!’ Jackson said after the win yesterday”.

“That’s the most important thing for me, contributing to the team and as long as I’m doing that then it doesn’t matter about who we are playing against”.

“It was a perfect day for me really. Scoring two goals and helping the team win a big London derby, I’m very happy.”

Jackson’s storming run, which culminated in a stylish finish, gave chelsea the lead after just three minutes into the game. After that, he doubled the lead 14 minutes later with a beautiful outside-of-the-boot strike.

Although the two finishes are different, they both demonstrate the striker’s relentless streak in front of goal, something Nicolas acknowledged after the match as something he is trying to improve.

“I think everybody thought I would pass to Cole or Noni who were both in good positions but I saw that the space was opening up for me, so I drove at goal and managed to score,’ our two-goal hitman added”.

“I was happy with that goal but also the timing of it. Being so early in the game, it meant we could control things and I think we did that”.

“The finish was something I was happy with too. I saw the goalkeeper come towards me and I made the decision to put it through his legs and luckily for me, it came off perfectly. I’ve been working hard on that aspect of my game so I’m happy to score two goals and help the team”.

“That gave me confidence for the second goal and I feel stronger with each game after overcoming injury from last season. I feel strong and I’m happy with my performance, but also the performance of the team as a whole.”

His assist for Palmer sealed the victory with the third goal, capping off an incredible day for the Senegalese forward.

Nicolas claimed he “knew instantly” that Palmer would find the back of the net as soon as he put the ball into his hands.

“Yes, I was happy to assist Cole too,” he added.

“I knew he would score once I found him because it’s Cole and we know he’s very ‘cold’ in front of goal!”
