Fulham Sign Emile Smith Rowe in Record-Breaking Deal

Fulham have confirmed the acquisition of Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe for an initial fee of £27 million, marking a new club record. While the Cottagers have not revealed the full amount, the deal is believed to potentially increase to £34 million with performance-related add-ons. Smith Rowe, who has been with Arsenal since he was 10, made his senior debut at 18 and has played 80 Premier League games, netting 12 goals. He has also represented England three times, with his last appearance in March 2022.

Excitement and New Beginnings

Expressing his joy, Smith Rowe said, “I’m really happy for me and my family – it’s a great moment. I’m excited to join Fulham and couldn’t wait to get started with my new teammates. The project here is exciting, and after talking to the manager Marco Silva and looking at the squad, I believe it’s the perfect move for my career.” In addition to Smith Rowe, Fulham has signed Ryan Sessegnon on a two-year contract following the expiration of his deal with Tottenham. Fulham’s vice-chairman, Tony Khan, shared his enthusiasm, stating, “We’re thrilled to sign such a talented young player and eagerly anticipate his integration into the squad as we prepare for the new season.”

Arsenal’s Farewell

Smith Rowe made 115 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions, scoring 18 goals and providing 13 assists. He debuted for the Gunners in September 2018, becoming the first player born in the 2000s to play for the club. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised Smith Rowe’s dedication and contributions, saying, “Emile’s commitment and energy were outstanding. He was crucial during challenging times and made a significant impact with his performances. While I’m sad to see him go, this is a vital step for him to play regularly. Emile leaves with our gratitude, respect, and best wishes for his future at Fulham.”
