Kai Havertz described it as a ‘dream moment’ after scoring the crucial winner against Brentford to send Arsenal top of the Premier League table.
The German continued his scoring form for the Gunners, scoring for the fourth league game in succession to see his side claim a hard-fought win against Brentford.
That win not only sent Arsenal top of the Premier League table but also ensured that the Gunners have now recorded eight straight league wins on the bounce, a kind of form that shows they mean serious business in their title aspirations.
And after his latest goal-scoring feat, Havertz admits moments like his goal against Brentford were only stuff he could dream off as a kid.
Havertz thankful for ‘dream moment’ against Brentford
“As a kid, I think you dream that you’re going to have moments like this in your career and today I had something like this,” he said. “[The supporters] made it very special to me and I’m very thankful to have this moment. Thank you to all of them.”
On the brilliant connection he has now has with the Gunners’ fanbase, Havertz added: “You always hope for that. I know maybe it wasn’t from the beginning but I always try to work hard and just doesn’t drop my confidence. I just give my best every game and I did it so I’m happy now that I’ve had some of those moments now.”
“I’m very delighted, it was a big game for us. To play in these games and win it at the end is always very nice and it was a great feeling.”
With that goal, Kai took his numbers for the season to eight in all competitions since he arrived in the summer, and having already scored a late winner against Brentford in the reverse Premier League fixture, he was thrilled to replicate that moment once again.
Reflecting on his latest goal against Brentford, he added: “I was just hoping that Ben would find me and it was a very nice cross. I was very free in the box and then obviously also a bit lucky with the goalkeeper but it was a very nice assist from Ben.
“I’m happy but I always want to become better and better. I know football always goes up and down and one week you’re the hero and the next week not, so I just try to work hard and keep the momentum going to help the team.”
