Shocking reports coming out of Arsenal indicate that Kai Havertz could leave Arsenal in the summer.
The report claims that Mikel Arteta’s patience with the German has grown thin and that he is willing to count his losses with the former Chelsea man.
Kai Havertz, 24, joined Arsenal for £65million in a shock move from Chelsea in the summer of 2023. Havertz, who only scored two league goals for Chelsea last season, was brought and dropped into the middle of the park by Mikel Arteta for 21 of the 23 games he has played this season.
The German is a profile which confuses many and even at Arsenal, many are not certain of Arteta’s intentions towards the player. The manager himself has defended the former Bayer 04 Leverkusen player in the media and has given him the confidence to score some goals and provide some assists for the Gunners.
However, the general agreement is that the experiment has been an expensive bust so far in a world where immediate results are prioritized over long-term projects. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, there are “questions about his adaptation to the team and his ability to make a difference on the pitch.”
Fichajes goes on to claim that the Gunners’ patience with Havertz has been exhausted and that they will go on to seek a summer move for him when the season is over. There are no interested teams at the moment, but the report claims that they are willing to work to recoup some of the money spent on the player in the summer.
The report also claims that Arsenal are hopeful that the player can take this as a challenge to turn his situation around with the player. Their minds are already made up about his future which leaves the ball in his court. As such, Arteta will continue to give him opportunities on the pitch and allow him to express himself fully and contribute to their season.
Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand has advised Ivan Toney not to go to Arsenal for his career.
The former Manchester United captain believes that the Brentford striker, who is being courted by many Premier League teams including the Gunners, is not yet at the level of those teams. Ferdinand is of the opinion that Toney will not last long at Arsenal and could end up in a similar situation to Havertz who is being touted for a summer exit after transferring in for a hefty sum.
Speaking on his podcast Vibe with Five, Ferdinand, reacting to Toney’s joke about Brentford selling him this summer, said: “He said it in jest! I don’t think he would move like that [with a big ego]. I would be surprised.”
“Remember, he has never played for a big club. He’s going to go there and he will have to be respectful and know where he is in the pecking order.”
“There are some big players in there. Do you think he is going to come with that chat about Mikel Arteta when you have Declan Rice, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Jesus?”
