Cristiano Ronaldo backs Arsenal to win Premier League

Cristiano Ronaldo believes Arsenal have done enough to win the Premier League this season and will be happy to see them win the title.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner said this in his explosive tell-all interview with Piers Morgan about his time at Manchester United which has currently set the football world alight.

Morgan asked him about his thoughts on the Premier League title race at the moment and Ronaldo stated that he would be happy to see Arsenal win the title.

“I hope so,” he responded when asked about his thoughts on the Gunners winning the league. “Manchester [United] first, and if not, Arsenal is some team that I like to see play. I like the team. I like the coach. I think they have a good team. And if Manchester United don’t win the Premier League, I will be happy if Arsenal do.”

Morgan, who is a die-hard Arsenal fan and a huge admirer of Ronaldo, was happy with the comments, having made it clear in the past that he would love Ronaldo to come to Arsenal.

“Gabriel Jesus needs a scoring partner next to him, and Jesus’ heat map is so outrageous,” Morgan told talkSPORT Breakfast in the wake of the first interview clip released..

“He [Jesus] covers so much ground, actually what we [Arsenal] need is a fox in the box, a world class player with bags of experience, who has won everything, and to help us get over the line.

“I can think of somebody – Cristiano Ronaldo!

In the same breath, the former Good Morning Britain host rubbished talks of Ronaldo being past his prime.

“I would take him for six-months in a heartbeat, and this idea of that Ronaldo can’t suddenly play football, I’m sorry, it’s laughable,” Morgan said.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is yet to make an official statement on the interview. However, they have taken down their stadium mural of their photoshoot of the club’s most famous number 7s, of which Ronaldo is the most popular and most accomplished.

Some at the club have claimed that it was just a coincidence and that the mural was removed because the men’s and women’s Rugby League World Cup finals was due to be played at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The Theatre of Dreams will play host to another sport as players take a break due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup holding in Qatar.

Ronaldo is with team Portugal preparing for his fifth World Cup appearance and hoping that he can go all the way this time around.

He will probably have no club to return to after the tournament, as his interview shows no way back into the club’s or Erik ten Hag’s good books.
