Erling Haaland did a demolition job on Manchester United as he scored another hat-trick. Guardiola claims the Norwegian striker is born to score goals.
The Manchester Derby took place on Sunday afternoon, and the expectations of many came through. Manchester City beat their local rivals 6-3 to continue their pursuit of Arsenal at the top of the table. It was one of the most one-sided derbies in recent memory. It highlighted the massive gap between Manchester City and Manchester United.
The Red Devils have swapped positions with the Citizens. They are now the noisy neighbours as Manchester is Sky Blue.
By the end of the first half, Man City was four goals up, with Erling Haaland and Phil Foden getting a brace each. The massively outmatched United side looked more like a Championship side but was able to put some respect to it when the Sky Blues eased their foot off the gas and Martial scored a late brace.
Erling Haaland completed his hat-trick in the second half, with Phil Foden doing the same. Haaland also provided two assists to continue his dominance of what is becoming a highly overrated league. Much talk has been around Haaland, and Guardiola has complemented the Norwegian bomber by saying he’s doing what he always does.
Guardiola praises Erling Haaland after a demolition job
They say the Premier League is the toughest and the best in the world, but Erling Haaland is making short work of it and turning it into a Mickey Mouse league. The Norwegian striker has no competition in the Premier League and is head and shoulders (literally) above everyone else.
Haaland scored his third Premier League hat-trick of the season against Manchester United. It has come in quick succession at the Etihad Stadium, and it took his total this term to 17 goals in just 11 games for Man City. Haaland is unstoppable, with the Premier League never seeing anything like him. He is on course to erase plenty of records in England.
Pep Guardiola has made light of the achievements of Haaland so far. The Spaniard said Haaland is replicating what he did at all his previous clubs. The former Barcelona manager said Haaland did in Norway, Austria and Germany. He also claims that the quality at Manchester City has helped him score goals, but he is doing what he always does.
The qualities of a supreme poacher
Guardiola praised Haaland and talked up his qualities. According to the Manchester City manager, Haaland has incredible instincts. He said it comes from his mum and dad. He was born with it.
Following the instant success of Haaland at Manchester City, Guardiola, who has been at the helm at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Man City, was asked if Haaland is the best striker he has had in his managerial career. Without answering the question, Guardiola replied that he has had incredible forwards in his career but likes that Haaland was involved in the last period of the game.
Haaland is threatening many records in the Premier League and could score as many as 50 goals this season. Guardiola, however, said he would rest Haaland whenever he deems fit. The Man City manager said he would take a break, as there will be games he will not play.
Guardiola also praised the physios at the Etihad and thanked them as Haaland can play every 90 minutes afforded to him.
