Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced the signing of Diego Costa. The former Chelsea star was left uncomfortable in a video unveiling posted on social media.
Wolves started the season with three strikers, but fate dealt the Dingles a tough hand, and they were left scrambling in the market for replacements. It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Wolverhampton Wanderers as they have only one win from six matches. The lack of a striker has been their bane, and they have made amendments to the anomaly.
With Adama Traore, Raul Jimenez and Sasa Kalajdzic all sidelined by injury, Wolves needed to get in another forward. The search for one led the club to former Chelsea striker Diego Costa. The striker with a solid experience in the English top flight is about to terrorize Premier league defenders again.
Costa returns to the Premier League
The odds of Diego Costa returning to the Premier League were slim, and nobody thought about it except Wolves, who needed a striker. Whether the Brazilian fits the model at the Molineux is a different matter.
The club announced the signing of the former Atletico Madrid striker last week after he signed a contract at the Molineux till the end of the season. The unveiling of Diego Costa, which was dramatic, officially confirms the arrival of the striker to the club. Costa, who had a stint at Chelsea, will lead the frontline for Wolves till the end of the season.
The 33-year-old is back in the Premier League following his departure from Stamford Bridge in 2017. He left the Blues in not-so-palatable circumstances.
While featuring for Chelsea, the Spain international won two titles in three seasons. Costa was adept at scoring goals, and he scored them in bucket loads earning himself a fearsome reputation in Europe. Costa might need some time to regain match fitness as he is no longer at the level he used to be. Nevertheless, Wolves fans are excited at the arrival of the 33-year-old.
Wolves opted for Diego Costa, who has been without a club since he left Atletico Mineiro. The signing of the Brazilian became necessary after the cruciate ligament rupture injury suffered by £15 million summer signing Sasa Kalajdzic.
Costa bothered about his unveiling
Wolves made the Costa announcement dramatically. The club posted a video of Costa with three snarling Wolves tugging at the end of a chain.
Costa was a little unnerved by the video. The Spain international may have been known for his physical, no-nonsense approach to the game, but he confessed that the unveiling bothered him. Costa said he was scared to death. Holding the chain, Costa said he could not stop thinking about the Wolves deciding to turn on him.
The lady training the wolves kept calling them, asking them to move around a little. The wolves didn’t do a thing, and it bothered Costa. According to Costa, when the wolves came and smelled his foot, he knew he was done for.
Costa admitted he was a little scared. The Brazilian said he has five dogs, but they’re not wolves. He confessed the experience was okay, but not a comfortable one.
