Tyrell Malacia to Manchester United deal close to completion

Following issues of player representation, a deal to sign Tyrell Malacia deal has been stalled. Regardless, Manchester United remain confident the deal could be closed in the coming days.

Manchester United fans must be tired of their team failing to get any deal over the line. With the transfer window officially open, fans expect that new signings will start arriving. For the past months, there have been links by the Red Devils to several players, with none coming to fruition yet.

What the United squad will look like this season is yet unknown and the frustration must be taking its toll on Erik Ten Hag. The Dutchman has a tough job already, with Manchester City and Liverpool far ahead of the chasing pack. Even Tottenham are making signings to close the gap on the top two, while Arsenal are equally not relenting in their efforts to get back into the top four.

The Red Devils have seen a quest to sign Dutch defender Tyrell Malacia slowed down over a few issues that need clearing. However it may be, United remain hopeful of signing the player.

United confident of signing Dutch defender

The arrival of Erik Ten Hag has seen the club go for players associated with Dutch football.

With a slight hiccup in the pursuit of Tyrell Malacia, Manchester United are not giving up hope on signing the defender.  According to ESPN, the delay in signing for Manchester United is due to an issue surrounding the player’s representation.

Manchester United matched a bid by Lyon for Malacia and seemingly hijacked the deal. United agreed to a £13 million fee for the 22-year-old Feyenoord left-back. Soon after the agreement, the deal faced complications after Malacia decided to change agents. ESPN reports that it isn’t much of an issue.

Ahead of their preseason, Erik Ten hag is hopeful of having Malacia in the squad in time. The new United manager would be leading the Red Devils on a tour of Thailand and Australia from July 8.

Ten Hag hunting for Dutch players

Manchester United had a torrid 2021-22 season, and Ten Hag is looking to remedy that this term. With Manchester City and Liverpool the favourites to win the title, Ten Hag has his job cut out. Ten Hag wants to sign players in the Dutch league.

Ten Hag has also had positive discussions with Ajax over Lisandro Martinez. Martinez (24) can play either as a midfielder or in defence. Arsenal are also interested in Martinez. Ajax value Martinez at around £43 million, but the Dutch giants have shown a desire to compromise on the fee.

With two bids from Arsenal knocked back, the path is clear for Manchester United to work out an agreement with the Dutch club.

Another player that interests Manchester United is Ajax winger Antony. Ajax have refused to budge from their £70 million player valuation. United find the price rather prohibitive. Meanwhile, ESPN also reports that negotiations for Frenkie de Jong are still on.

There are still several details to be worked outside an agreement of an initial fee of £56 million. The club is yet to agree on personal terms with the player.

Ten Hag plays his first game as United manager against Liverpool in Bangkok on July 12.
