As per reports from German media, Borussia Dortmund are very close to sealing the deal of signing one of Salzburg’s most influential forwards, Karim Adeyemi.
Kehl, a man in the running to take over the position of Dortmund’s sporting director, is very optimistic about the German club ousting Man United in the chase for Adeyemi.
Karim Adeyemi signed for RB Salzburg in 2018 but given his inexperience, he was loaned to their feeder’s team immediately.
Adeyemi quickly adapted to the style of play at the 2nd Division as in his first season, where he was involved in 20 games, scoring a total of six goals and recording four assists.
The striker would go on to further impress the next season as he netted nine goals in 14 games.
His impressive stats at Leifering, Salzburg’s feeder team, were convincing enough for the senior team to call him back.
In his first full season with Salzburg, the forward would go on to exceed expectations as he scored seven goals, alongside seven assists from 29 games played.
His contributions were very influential to Salzburg winning the league that season. Adeyemi carried on that form to the current campaign with six goals in six opening games, making him attract interest from top European sides.
As it stands, he is currently leading the charts with 17 goals as the highest goalscorer in the Austrian League.
Karim Adeyemi Makes Preference for German Side over EPL Options
It is perhaps no surprise that Premier League sides Manchester United and Liverpool are interested in a move for the Salzburg forward. Regardless, Borussia Dortmund remain favourites to sign the forward.
In line with recent reports, Karim Adeyemi will prefer a move to Dortmund over the Premier League.
Dortmund are reportedly optimistic about signing Adeyemi, since he could come in as a replacement for Haaland. The Norwegian forward is likely to end up at Manchester City this summer, with the Premier League champions reportedly close to agreeing a move.
Signing Adeyemi and selling Haaland in the same window will make sense for Borussia Dortmund. They will use the funds from Haaland’s mega sale to sign Adeyemi and probably still even have some more left to sign other players.
Unlike other clubs, Borussia Dortmund have thrived on brilliant buying and selling rather than extravagant spending and this could be another case once again.
