Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been asked by Erik ten Hag to find a new club ahead of the Dutchman’s appointment as the club’s manager, according to reports.
Erik ten Hag is reportedly weeks away from being announced as Manchester United manager after the Old Trafford hierarchy decided to go with him ahead of Mauricio Pochettino.
The Ajax Amsterdam manager is also reportedly awaiting a list of demands to be met before the decision is finalised and one of them is a say in the club’s squad building.
One of the first casualties of the ten Hag appointment is going to be Ronaldo, who the Dutch coach has asked to be moved on from the club in the summer, according to the Daily Star.
Ronaldo is under contract at United until 2023 with an option to extend for another year, but despite his goals, his return has not gone as planned.
Ronaldo is currently under investigation for a misdemeanour involving an Everton fan when he smashed the fan’s phone in the last game.
Ex-United midfielder Kleberson has also tipped Ronaldo’s Portugal teammate Bruno Fernandes to leave when ten Hag arrives at Old Trafford, alongside Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire.
Kleberson, speaking with Paddy Power, said: “Erik ten Hag would represent a change in style as his teams like to have the ball and have more possession and that could help the quality players at United like Paul Pogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford – they like to have the ball at their feet.
“I can see a lot of players at Manchester United leaving if they appoint a new manager who is building for the long term. It gives Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo the opportunity to leave the club as a lot of things can change with a new manager.”
Elsewhere, United target Harry Kane has decided to snub the club.
Kane has instead chosen to to remain at Tottenham Hotspur and will assess his future at the North London club after the summer transfer window is up.
