MWOS presented the Zambezi Amazons with a USD5,000 cheque for a sponsorship deal on Saturday, January 14, 2023. The Zambezi Amazons are a female beach volleyball team based in Zimbabwe that competes at international and local tournaments.

MWOS, based on its One Community initiative, sponsored the Zambezi Amazons trip to Lesotho in October 2022 last year, where they were participating in a regional tournament. The sponsorship deal included travel costs and kit sponsorship. This helped the Zambezi Amazons to represent Zimbabwe at the tournament and gave their players exposure to competition from countries around the world.

The sponsorship they received, worth USD5,000, aided them in attending a tournament in Durban, South Africa on the 20th of January 2023, where they were representing Zimbabwe and raising the nation’s flag high. The cheque aided them in covering travel and kit-related costs. The remainder of the funds will be dedicated to building a beach volleyball court in Harare, where the team can train and host competitions.

Coleen Nyamuburwa, chairperson of the Zambezi Amazons, was pleased with the sponsorship and stated in an interview, “We are really grateful for what MWOS have done for us. Their support means a lot to us because we were being funded by individuals. When a brand of their stature gives you a hand, it’s something amazing.”

MWOS, through its One Community initiative, will continue to lend a hand where possible for the greater good of the community and the nation of Zimbabwe at large.
