Manchester City have completed the signing of Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth €70m (£59m). The 25-year-old has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2029, with potential add-ons increasing the total fee by £4m.
Marmoush has been in sensational form this season, scoring 15 goals in 17 Bundesliga matches – second only to Harry Kane’s 16 goals for Bayern Munich. Speaking about his move, Marmoush expressed his delight at joining the reigning Premier League champions. “Representing Manchester City is a dream come true,” he said. “It’s an honour for me and my family, and I’m excited to contribute to this incredible club.”
Versatility and winning mentality
Known for his adaptability on the pitch, Marmoush has played as a striker, attacking midfielder, and winger. “I’m quick, good with the ball, and I focus on exploiting spaces,” he explained. “My greatest strength is my desire to win, which drives me every time I play.”
City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, praised Marmoush’s skill set, highlighting his pace, awareness, and ability to play in multiple positions. “His versatility will be a huge asset for us,” Begiristain said.
Marmoush began his career at Wadi Degla in Egypt before moving to VfL Wolfsburg in 2020. He gained experience during loan spells at St. Pauli and VfB Stuttgart, eventually joining Frankfurt in 2023. During his time there, he recorded an impressive 37 goals and 20 assists in 67 appearances.
City strengthen squad with two more signings
In addition to Marmoush, Manchester City have bolstered their squad with two January signings. The club secured 19-year-old Brazilian defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for £30m and Uzbekistan international Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for £34m.
City’s ambition to strengthen their squad highlights their continued focus on maintaining dominance in both domestic and European competitions. With Marmoush’s arrival and the addition of young defensive talent, Manchester City appear well-prepared for the challenges ahead.
