Kylian Mbappe will sign for Real Madrid – LaLiga president

Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga, has claimed that French superstar Kylian Mbappe will sign for Real Madrid.

Transfer insider, Fabrizio Romano claimed that the Spanish top flight chief made these claims at an event when he was asked for any information on Madrid’s pursuit of the Frenchman.

“There is a high probability that Mbappe will arrive at Real Madrid. More than 50 per cent”, Fabrizio quoted Tebas as saying. “It’s a personal opinion… it depends on Real Madrid, they will decide.”

Real Madrid have long chased the forward, who moved to Paris Saint-Germain almost a decade ago from AS Monaco. He has since repaid their €180 million investment in him, playing pivotal roles in keeping them at the top of the food chain in French football and making them constant threats in the UEFA Champions League.

Mbappe is now the club’s all-time leading goalscorer and second-highest assist provider at the club. His current contract ends at the end of the ongoing season and there is no sign of renewal talks holding. This has given other clubs hope of inquiring into his conditions to play for them.

Liverpool, like Madrid, have a long-term interest in the player. However, they are not as financially capable as the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners, who also happen to be Mbappe’s preferred club after PSG.

Only Manchester City can match the financial might of Madrid in Europe, and they could enter the race just to make a statement.

Tebas’ statements, however, will keep Liverpool and other clubs interested in the player on edge. Mbappe and Madrid look inevitable, but the other clubs are hoping that the boardroom discussions could change the flow of what is to come.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, have been quiet about their Mbappe interest unlike two years ago. The player shocked the world by extending his stay at PSG for two more years after a gentleman’s agreement with Madrid. Since then, they have been carefully observing, while keeping their lines of communication open.

Tebas’ claims that the deal is 50 percent done now give credence to the fact that Madrid has indeed been working on the deal.

At PSG, however, all hope is not lost. They are trying to keep Mbappe and are set to offer even more than they did that got him to sign a two-year extension. Spanish outlet Diario AS reports that the player, through his camp, has let PSG know that he will communicate his decision to them within the next two weeks.

The saga is reaching its climax.
