Real Madrid will reportedly be without several key players ahead of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash against Manchester City on Wednesday.
The latest injury concern involves left-back Álvaro Carreras, who has been ruled out after sustaining a calf problem. The club confirmed that the defender suffered a muscle injury in the calf of his right leg, which will keep him out of the upcoming European fixture.
Although the club did not provide a specific recovery timeline, early reports suggest the Spaniard could be sidelined for at least a week, making him unavailable for the first leg against City.
The injury adds to a growing list of unavailable players for Real Madrid. The team will also be without several key players, including Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, Éder Militão, David Alaba, Dani Ceballos and Rodrygo, while Eduado Camavinga is set to assessed ahead of kickoff.
The absence of multiple first-team players could impact Real Madrid’s chances to secure a place in the quarter-finals of Europe’s premier club competition.
For Manchester city, meanwhile, Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic are the only two injury absentees. Guardiola is expected to revert to a strong lineup for the clash, after making 10 changes against Newcastle last weekend.
