Eden Hazard wants game time and could leave Real Madrid

Eden Hazard wants more opportunities at Real Madrid, as he believes he has something to offer Los Blancos. The former Chelsea forward hopes his situation will change after the World Cup.

Real Madrid is undoubtedly the biggest club in the world. The Spanish giants have a romance for the UEFA Champions League, and it goes a long way in assessing its players, managers and the team generally. It is perhaps why they are the most successful team in the competition.

Up until recently, Real Madrid operated under Florentino Perez, what the media tagged the ‘Galactico’ policy. Los Blancos has a love affair with seeking out and signing the best players in the world. The model was a galactic disaster as, after a few trophies, the galacticos wilted in the bright lights of scrutiny that came with their stardom.

The allure of signing top stars never left Senor Perez. Eden Hazard was the biggest thing in the world at the time, and Perez signed him. The experiment has failed, and after enduring with the Belgian, things have come to a head, with the former Chelsea forward thinking of leaving the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

I want to play more – Hazard

Things have not gone to script for Eden Hazard at Real Madrid. He arrived at the biggest club in the world with a reputation, but he had mighty shoes to fill. Cristiano had just left the hallowed halls of the Santiago Bernabeu, and Senor Perez needed a player of requisite value to replace him. In came Hazard, but things have not worked out well.

The Belgian has failed to reproduce the Chelsea form that made him the darling of all. He joined Real Madrid in 2019 for €100 million, and Real Madrid fans have waited endlessly for the spark. Hazard has rarely featured for Real Madrid this term and is running dry on patience as he wants to play more.

Hazard has not started a La Liga game this season and has been an unused substitute in 11 of their last 12 fixtures. The former Lille forward says he wants to play more. He claims he does not want to leave Real Madrid and hopes his situation will change after the World Cup. Perhaps it is time for Hazard to assess his options.

From grace to grass

Hazard was a king at Chelsea, but at Real Madrid, he has become a page boy. He was a hero at Stamford Bridge and the Premier League, with many arguing he was the best player on the planet. Perhaps that is the reason why Real Madrid took a punt on him.

Since he arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu, Hazard has battled injury problems. When you play for Real Madrid, there is always the scrutiny of the press and fans. Things worsened for Hazard at Real Madrid after getting caught by TV cameras celebrating with Chelsea players after the Blues knocked Madrid out of the 2021 Champions League.

Hazard believes he still has what it takes to deliver for Real Madrid and said he wants to play, but the manager makes the choices. He claims to accept Ancelotti’s decision. Hazard, however, wants to show him he deserves to play more. Vinicius Junior has taken up his position and will be tough to dislodge.

Meanwhile, Chelsea, Newcastle, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund seem interested in signing the 31-year-old.
