De la Fuente expresses confidence in Ansu Fati despite injury setback

Ansu Fati has suffered yet another injury blow, casting doubt on his early-season prospects. The 21-year-old Barcelona forward picked up a hamstring injury during a training session under Hansi Flick’s guidance, sidelining him for an estimated month. This setback arrives amid an already challenging season for Ansu, who has struggled to secure consistent minutes in Barcelona’s competitive attack. His absence is anticipated to complicate his path to gaining a steady role within the team’s star-studded lineup.

Luis de la Fuente shares sympathy for Ansu’s struggles

In a recent interview with Diario Sport, Spain national team head coach Luis de la Fuente shared his thoughts on Ansu Fati’s latest setback. Acknowledging the young talent’s past promise, de la Fuente admitted that seeing the forward face repeated injuries has been disheartening. Ansu, once hailed as one of Spain’s brightest young prospects, remains a player with immense potential in de la Fuente’s eyes.

“It pains me to see him injured again,” the coach noted, expressing his continued faith in Ansu’s ability to make a strong return. He added, “We value his exceptional talent, and I’m certain he can bounce back. When he returns to play, he’ll need to regain his confidence, which is no easy task, but he’s capable.”

Hope for a comeback with La Roja

Despite Ansu’s challenging journey, de la Fuente believes that the youngster’s skill and determination can lead to a resurgence on the national stage. The coach emphasized that rebuilding confidence after multiple injuries is often a gradual process, but he remains optimistic.

“Once he feels safe and secure, and he’s performing at a high level, it will shift his momentum,” de la Fuente stated. “He’s always been in our plans, and we look forward to the day when we can call him back to La Roja.”
