Davide Frattesi: Rising Star in Inter’s Midfield

Davide Frattesi’s arrival at Inter Milan has seen the dynamic midfielder quickly establish himself as a key contributor to the team. Since making the move from Sassuolo, Frattesi has been delivering at a remarkable rate, averaging just under one goal or assist every two hours of play. His most recent contribution came in rapid fashion, finding the back of the net just 43 seconds into Inter’s 3-2 triumph over Udinese.

This quick-fire goal adds to an impressive tally of nine goals and five assists across all competitions since the start of last season. Despite playing in midfield, Frattesi boasts an involvement in a goal every 129 minutes, an efficiency outdone only by Inter’s attacking stars Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram. His ability to produce such consistent numbers from a deeper position has made him one of the most influential midfielders in the squad.

Italy’s Top Scorer Under Spalletti

Frattesi’s goal-scoring prowess hasn’t been limited to his club performances. Under the guidance of national team coach Luciano Spalletti, Frattesi has become Italy’s leading scorer since Spalletti replaced Roberto Mancini just over a year ago.

This achievement is even more impressive given that Frattesi operates primarily as a central midfielder, a position that typically prioritizes playmaking and defensive responsibilities over direct goal involvement. Yet, he has consistently delivered in the final third for Italy, showcasing his versatility and attacking instincts. His knack for scoring from midfield has turned him into a vital asset for Spalletti’s new-look Italy.

Frattesi Seeking More Playing Time

Despite his standout performances and goal involvement, Frattesi has found himself frequently playing in a rotational role, often being deployed as a substitute for Inter’s star midfielder, Nicolo Barella. This trend continued in the Udinese match, where he was called upon to fill in for Barella from the start. However, with his contributions becoming increasingly decisive, Frattesi and his representatives have reportedly been pushing for more consistent playing time under Inter manager Simone Inzaghi.

Frattesi’s strong form and ability to step up when called upon have made him a strong contender for a starting role in Inter’s lineup. His continued impact on the field, combined with his goal involvement record, suggests that he could be ready for more minutes. As Inter battles on multiple fronts this season, Inzaghi may find it difficult to ignore Frattesi’s case for increased playing time. With his ability to both score and create from midfield, Frattesi is making a compelling argument to become a regular fixture in the starting XI.
