Brazil chase Jose Mourinho as Tite replacement following snub by Carlo Ancelotti

Brazil have now shifted their focus to Jose Mourinho to replace Tite as the new Brazil manager. Carlo Ancelotti was their first option, but the Italian opted to remain with Real Madrid.

Brazil were the top dog to win the World Cup in Qatar, but the Selecao surprisingly lost out in the quarter-final stage to Croatia. A painful loss for the side, which many had as number one to win. Following their loss to Croatia, the manager Tite decided to fall on his sword leaving the position vacant.

Brazil are now hunting for a new manager, with several names coming up. Brazil is not looking for a neophyte to replace Tite. They want an accomplished name going by their targets. There were reports of the Real Madrid manager taking up the role, but the Italian has snubbed the Brazilians and will remain with Los Blancos.

The Selecao is still hunting for a top manager and intends to find someone with a massive profile. The latest reports suggest they have turned their radar on former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho. The reports suggest discussions are ongoing with the Portuguese manager.

Brazil plot Jose Mourinho capture

The question here is whether Jose Mourinho is ready to quit the day-to-day activities of a club manager for the dreary life of a national team coach. Is he willing to combine the two? It is tough to tell what the iconic Portuguese manager would do as Brazil seeks his signature to lead the Selecao.

According to reports, Brazil want to bring in Jose Mourinho to steer the affairs of the Selecao and have reportedly opened discussions with the Roma boss. Some reports suggest Carlo Ancelotti was their first target, but the Italian was not interested in taking the role.

Tite brought his six-year spell with Brazil to an end after Brazil sensationally lost to Croatia via penalties in the quarter-final of the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The resignation of the Brazilian manager leaves a vacuum the Selecao finds tough to fill, as they want a top-rated manager to take over from Tite.

Brazil puts pressure on Mourinho

The Brazilian FA president Ednaldo Rodrigues is understood to have sent a representative to Europe to find the best foreign coaches available. The FA felt Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti would be amenable to accepting the offer, but the Italian does not want to leave Real Madrid unless he gets the sack. Ancelotti has a contract with Los Blancos till 2024.

La Repubblica reports that Brazil have opened preliminary talks with Jorge Mendes over a move for Jose Mourinho. The publication circled back to 2017 when Mourinho, as Manchester United manager, confessed managing Brazil in the future would be exciting. He said he needed an easier job than the Red Devils, and coaching United should be more difficult.

Speculations are rife over the future of the Roma boss. Other reports suggest that Portugal is also interested in snatching him from Roma after the sacking of Fernando Santos. Reports in Italy claim Roma is not ready to let Mourinho, who has a contract till 2024, leave the club.

Corriere Dello Sport also reported that Mende met with Fernando Soares Gomes da Silva to discuss Mourinho.
