Borussia Mönchengladbach Eyes Kamada for Bundesliga Return

According to Bild, after just a year away from the Bundesliga, there are strong indications that Daichi Kamada may be making a return, with Borussia Mönchengladbach expressing interest in the midfielder. The potential move comes amidst Gladbach’s intention to continue their rebuild this summer, buoyed by the likely €35 million sale of Manu Koné and an increase in sponsorship money from a new sponsor.

With the imminent departure of Manu Koné, who is expected to fetch around €35 million in the summer transfer window, Gladbach is on the lookout for a suitable replacement. Two primary candidates have emerged: Ao Tanaka from Fortuna Düsseldorf and Joris Chotard from Montpellier. Tanaka, favored for his relatively low transfer fee of €2.75 million compared to Chotard’s higher cost, seems to be leading the race. Additionally, there’s speculation about Marcel Hartel from St Pauli, who could potentially join Gladbach as his contract with the Hamburg club expires in the summer.

Kamada, currently with Lazio, could provide the creative spark that Gladbach seeks, especially considering his struggles for game time in Italy. While his contract has an option for an extra three years, a move to Gladbach might rejuvenate his career and bolster the team’s midfield.

Strategic Moves in Gladbach’s Rebuilding Phase

Another area that Borussia Mönchengladbach aims to bolster is their striking department. They have identified AZ Alkmaar’s Vangelis Pavlidis as their preferred target, although his acquisition could cost around €20 million. Pavlidis’s contract with the Dutch club is set to expire in 2025, which might provide an opportunity for negotiation on a lower transfer fee. However, the price tag could still pose a challenge for Gladbach, who currently rely on Tomas Cvancara and Jordan up front, with the latter just starting to find his form at the club.

Gladbach’s rebuilding plans indicate their commitment to strengthening key positions, ensuring competitiveness in the Bundesliga and beyond. With a blend of potential transfers and strategic signings, the club aims to continue its legacy of success in German football.
