Arsenal looking forward to ‘big game’ against Bayern Munich

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is looking forward to his side’s clash against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday. The Gunners will take on Bayern Munich in a highly-anticipated fixture at the Emirates for the first leg of the quarter-final fixtures.

Bayern have dominated the Gunners in their previous encounters but there are feelings that Arsenal can get their revenge this time around, given their current form. The Gunners are undefeated in 2024 and currently top the Premier league table without conceding in their last five consecutive games, contrasting to the form of Bayern who have lost two league games consecutively and are expected to lose their Bundesliga crown to Bayer Leverkusen.

There is growing optimism in the Arsenal camp about a positive result against the German giants and Arteta seems to share those thoughts.

Arsenal relishing Bayern tie, says Arteta

Speaking ahead of his side’s clash against Bayern Munich, Arteta said: “We’re really enjoying the moment, this is where we want to be. We’re in a really good position in the Premier League and we’re in a really good position in the Champions League. We have a big task ahead of us against one of the most successful teams in Europe and that’s the hurdle we have to overcome, and we are looking forward to it.”

“They’re a tough team. I’m a big fan, a big admirer of Thomas [Tuchel], his teams, the way they settle and play, the way they transmit. I learn a lot about him and looking at Bayern and when you are analysing this league, you see why they are a top team. We have prepared very well, and we have to take our game where we want it, and if we do that, we have a chance to win.”

Arteta was also asked about how much the club has improved, with more leaders on the pitch. He added: ”Hopefully we are better [than last season], we have learnt a lot of the stuff over the last few months. I think players have evolved; we all have tried to improve, to be better than we were a year ago. It’s been a really demanding season, it’s been a huge step for us to be in this competition and on top of that, be competing in the Premier League the way we are doing. This is the challenge, but as well we are so excited to be part of that.”
