Ancelotti interested in coaching Brazil after his contract expires at Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is interested in coaching the Brazilian national at the end of his Real Madrid contract. The four-time Champions League-winning coach wants a spell with the less stressful national team football.

There has been a rash of job losses at the World Cup, with many countries in limbo. The spate of upsets, surprises and seeming failures by several sides at the Qatar 2022 Mundial saw many managers fall on their swords. Unable to meet their targets, they had little choice but to leave their positions with the national teams.

Some coaches that called it quits after failing on their mandate in Qatar include Roberto Martinez of Belgium. He resigned from his position immediately after failing to qualify for the round of 16. Others are Louis van Gaal (Netherlands), Paulo Bento (South Korea), Luis Enrique (Spain), Gerardo Martino (Mexico), Ota Addo (Ghana) and Tite (Brazil).

The rash of resignations has left many positions vacant, with a few coaches showing interest in filling those roles. Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is one of those that wants to via into national team football. Contracted to Los Blancos, the Italian is keen on taking on the role left behind by Brazil coach Tite.

Carlo Ancelotti eyes Seleção Canarinho top job

Brazil were one of the favourites to win the World Cup. The Samba Boys were odds on favourite to lift the trophy for the sixth time, but they fell at the quarter-final stage to 2018 finalists Croatia. The loss held significant importance as their manager Tite called time on his role as the coach. Arguably the most popular national team, Brazil needs a top-class manager to lead the team.

Carlo Ancelotti is not immediately available to replace Tite, but the Italian has expressed interest in coaching the Samba Boys. According to the Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, Ancelotti is the leading candidate to take over from Tite. He will be on the market when his contract expires at the end of the 2022-23 season. UOL Esporte also reports that the Manchester City manager was the favourite to replace Tite, but the Spaniard is uninterested in leaving the Citizens.

The hectic life of a club coach must be getting to Ancelotti, who may prefer the less stressful role of managing a national team. The Italian has won all the top trophies in club football and might see the Brazil job as another challenge to conquer. Perhaps Ancelotti has had this dream on his bucket list.

Last club job?

When Ancelotti joined Everton, it surprised many, as the Merseyside club did not fit his profile. He returned to Real Madrid and immediately won La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

There seems to be a love affair between Ancelotti and Real Madrid, as he stated in the past that the Los Blancos role would be his last job. Following those statements, it would be surprising to see him take on the Brazilian job when his contract expires in 2024.

The links to the Brazil job are currently nothing but rumours, as the Italian should address the issue in his next press conference.

The departure of Ancelotti could see Raul Gonzalez take over the reins.
